Task 1a Part 1

Elements Of Design

For this part of the Project we had to, find 4 different Elements of Design and get images of them on Google and make them into mood boards.
I used Line, Colour, Texture and Value Elements.

Line Elements

Lines can be mixed with other lines to create textures and patterns. The use of line in mixture,
results in the development of form and value, which are other elements of design. There's different types of line elements whether that be Vertical, Horizontal, Diagonal, Zigzag or Curved, they're all forms of Line elements. Also there's different variations of what lines come in, if that be long, short or anything in between, thick or thin, smooth or rough, continuous, dotted or dashed, change of direction or in degree or turn, they can be any of the listed combined, they will still be a form of line elements.

Colour Elements

Colour is one of the most powerful elements. It has a incredible and dramatic tone. Understanding the uses of colour is important to powerful style in design and the fine arts. Whether you have primary colours which are Red, Blue and Yellow or you have secondary colours which are a made but mixing the primary colours with each other and you can make Green, Orange and Purple (or Violet).

Texture Elements

Texture element is refereed to the quality in a work of art. Textures are associated with the way that things look or feel. Texture might be used in a work of art to, it could create visual interest or a focus point or maybe to create contrast within a design or to help visually balance a design.

Value Elements

Value is refereed to light, the more light, the higher the value. White is the highest or lowest value, where as Black is the lowest or the darkest value. Colour is also a form of value as yellow for example is a high/ light value but then violet has a low/ dark value. Value is very important in drawing and painting because the changes in value are what creates contract. Contract is needed to help us see and understand a two dimensional work of art. If there was no value contrast between things it'd make it difficult to see things.
